Music with the Ali

The programme is particularly attractive because it combines masterpieces such as the Bach Concerto for Two Violins and Orchestra - from which we expect an unpredictable interpretation - with the works of two contemporary composers of Bach: Charles Avison, Evaristo Felice Dall'Abaco, authors of great music, witnesses of the great blossoming of the Italian violin in the mature Baroque and its European spread.

CONCERT KÖLNC with its unique sound, Concerto Köln has been one of the leading groups in historically sound performance practice for 30 years. It is a self-governing orchestra, each musician bears a high degree of responsibility for the success of the ensemble. Artistic projects such as CD recordings or concert tours as well as the selection of musicians are discussed and decided in the orchestra.

Concerto Köln's most recent collaborations with leading conductors include Ivor Bolton, Pablo Heras-Casado, Daniel Harding, Marcus Creed, Laurence Equilbey and Emmanuelle Haïm. Recent recordings of Bach's violin concertos with Giuliano Carmignola (Archive), Haydn's violin concertos with Midori Seiler (Berlin Classics) and Mahan Efahani's project "The Present and the Past", which combines Bach and Bach with Gorecki and Steve Reich, are further proof of the wide stylistic range of the Cologne concert.

In addition, the 2014 "Brandenburgische Konzerte" (Berlin Classics) are a critical success. As cultural ambassador of the European Union (2012), the orchestra is a hub of the musical life of Cologne and its region North Rhine-Westphalia. Born in Treviso, GIULIANO Carmignolato studied with his father Luigi Ferro, Nathan Milstein, Franco Gulli at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana and Henryk Szeryng at the Geneva Conservatory.

He began his career as a soloist under the direction of conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Eliahu Inbal, Peter Maag and Giuseppe Sinopoli in the most renowned concert halls. In the 1970s his collaboration with the virtuosos of the Roma was significant, followed by the Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca, the Venice Baroque Orchestra, the Mozart Orchestra, the Orchestre des Champs Elysees, the Basel Chamber Orchestra, the Giardino Armonico, the Academy of Ancient Music and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra.

His recordings have been awarded numerous important prizes such as Diapason D'Or and Choc du Monde. Recent recordings include Vivaldi's concertos for two violins with Viktoria Mullova and the Venice Baroque Orchestra, the complete Mozart concertos with Claudio Abbado and the Mozart Orchestra, Haydn's concertos for violin with the Orchestre des Champs Elysees, 'Vivaldi con Moto' with the Accademia Bizantina and Ottavio Dantone, and Bach's concertos for violin with Concerto Köln.

He has held courses at the Chigiana Music Academy in Siena and at the Hochschule Luzern.
